Hajostek families have lived in Slovakia since at least 1675. Josephy Hajostek married Zusana on November 3, 1675, in the town of Druzback in Slovakia. The matrimony witness recorded in the church record was in the Matava family. The record is in latin. |

Matrimony record, Ruzbach, Slovakia, November 3, 1675. Note that the name is spelled Haiostek. The predominant spelling was Hajostek in the early 1700s. Microfilm scan file; Mscan_S2.jpg There is some evidence that the slovak alphabet may not have had the letter j in it, at that time. |
Exhaustive searching of microfilms of Eastern European birth records indicates that the ancestral center of the Hajostek family was in and around the town of Ruzbach, in what was then called Austria-Hungary. Today, the town name is Nizne Ruzbachy (lower Ruzbach, in Slovak). Nearby towns are Vysne Ruzbachy, Lackova, Stara Lubovna, Podolinec, Krizova Ves and Levoca. |
To date, it appears that the entire Hajostek/Hayostek family traces back to Joseph Hajostek/Sophia in 1713 or John Hajostek/Anna in 1712, both living in Inferioris Villa (probably Ruzbach). |
